the wall hanging project is the result of a personal challenge between Racaire and Anya to recreate a medieval wall hanging of their choice, and should be done at least 50 percent in a medieval stitch not normally used by them. This project will last a year and a day, ending on August 1st, 2007. This challenge will happen annually, the project changing every year. If you would like to get in on the action, drop us a line!
I have only just started my path down Medieval delights, learning to sew and stitch in the process. I have only been going for about 6 months (total novice).
I hope that i can eventually manage something as beautiful as that. I have seen the photos of the original when i was overseas, but the colours are amazing.
Thank you very much :) Maybe you would find my handout for the used technique useful: http://racaire.at/index/embroidery/handouts/Klosterstich_v1-00.pdf Best regards Racaire
Thanks very much for that, i will have a look. It was the black and white image of the original wall hanging that i took the shape for my first try at embroidery from. I didn't try the figures inside, but i might have a go now.
